Oklahoma City, Okla., Feb. 13-15

The PBR held its first Bull Team Challenge competition during the Built Ford Tough Series event at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City. This season there are 14 teams entered, with a new format of three bulls per team in lieu of the five bull teams last year.

H.D. Page of Team Boogerman explained, “I like this new format because it makes it easier for us to get the bulls ready. I love the team concept but I wish we had more teams. You can still join this season and maybe we will have more teams as the year progresses.”

Tom Teague of Teague Bucking Bulls added, “I am happy as long as we have teams competing. This is a great way for owners of these great bulls to have some fun and make some money.”

Both Chad Herrington and Alan Murphy have teams this season. Five bull teams competed in Oklahoma City, bringing 15 bulls to fight it out for the title.

Teague Bucking Bulls’ Bones was the MVP.Teague Bucking Bulls brought the right combination, scoring 134.5 points, good enough for the $10,000 dollar payoff. Teague’s team consisted of Bones (PBR Bucking Bull of the Year 2008), I’m a Gangster and Deja Blue, some of the top bulls bucking in the PBR today.

"Our bulls were great at this event,” remarked Teague. “I’m a Gangster was truly outstanding Friday night, scoring a 45.75— it was by far his best out ever. Deja Blue scored 44 in the Classic, and Bones cleaned it all up with 44.75 in the short go. We are real pleased with our bull’s performances this weekend, and just hope we can keep it going.”

Boyd-floydbullcompany.com placed second with 133.5 and a check for $5,000. Brad Boyd summed up his team’s performance: “I thought we were a little better than we scored, and I think we will tune these bulls up and win the Kansas City, Mo. event.”Clifton Wiggins and Tom Teague came out on top in OKC.

Team King Herrington finished up third with 131.75; fourth was Murphy Energy Services with 130.75; and fifth went to Team Boogerman with 90.

There will be nine Bull Team Challenge events for the 2009 season.
