Broadleaf Weeds and Their Control

Type Of Weed: Annual

  • Chemical: 2,4-D, Weedmaster, Grazon P+D, Cimmarron, Amber, Fuego, Rave, Redeem, Milestone, Forefront
  • Mechanical: Shredding

Type Of Weed: Perennial

ex: Silverleaf Nightshade, Dandelion, White Clover, Tropical Soda Apple

Method of Control

  • Chemical: Tordon 22K, Weedmaster, Grazon P+D, Rave, Cimmarron Max, Remedy, Fuego, Rave, Redeem, Milestone, Forefront
  • Mechanical: Shredding (temporary top kill only)

Make sure to read the instructions for use for any of the chemical control methods. They range from 3-7 ounces/acre to 4 quarts/acre. There is a cost/benefit to any of the control methods so compare the weeds you have to what is available. Also, some of the chemicals require certain licensing for use. In cases where the herbicide is regulated, it may be available through your local co-op or supply store for delivery and application. This can end up being cost effective if you don’t already have application equipment, have limited time, or just don’t want to deal with spraying yourself.
