Page 2 of 2 “We have three settings based on how you like to flank your bull: light, medium and heavy pull,” he explained. The $295-priced product is spring-loaded so a flankman can pull the flank just to the mark they want on that particular animal, preventing over-flanking. Although it’s a relatively new product, some heavy hitters are testing it in their training sessions. Chad Berger, Denny McCoy, Julio Moreno, Billy Jaynes, and Scott Pickens all picked up a Pull Pro at the Finals and are testing it out. Gaylon stated, “I’m excited to get their feedback. I’m real hopeful about this product.” They say the family that rides (and rodeos) together stays together, and that’s clearly true with the Childers. Gaylon and Joey are avid motorcycle riders and Gaylon has a Boss Hoss Trike that is a tribute to 9-11, specifically to all the firemen who perished in the Twin Towers. Gaylon shook his head, “I just feel like people forgot that tragedy a little too quick, which is why I customized my bike this way. I want people to see it and remember.” The Trike also has a custom-built trailer that looks like a miniature fire truck and comes complete with a little ladder, fire extinguisher and even little axes on it. Gaylon and Joey participate in parades and take this custom tribute to all the big bike shows. They’ve gone to Bike Week in Florida and to the Harley Davidson Rally in Sturgis. Gaylon humbly shared, “This is just our way of honoring the firemen.” People who started as strangers have now become friends of the Childers after they wandered over to look at the bike and express their sentiments. “We’ve really had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people and share in the stories about the friends and family they lost on that day. We really feel blessed,” Gaylon acknowledged. As Blessed Buckers moves forward there is a lot to be grateful for. They’ve got a number of yearlings that look really strong with a couple of standouts. “I’ve got one son of Big Bucks that looks really special,” Gaylon predicted, “I think he’s going to be really good. I’m excited to see what he can do.” The Childers have also participated in Billy Jaynes’ Million Dollar Futurity and those calves will hit the ground this spring. In just two short years, they’ll have the chance to compete for a million dollars. Together, Gaylon and Joey have built a strong foundation for their breeding program based on proven genetics and solid females. They continue to seek out hard to find bloodlines and plan on attending a few of the upcoming major sales. After 33 years of marriage, they attribute their success to laughter and sharing a common vision. “I love to make people laugh. I’ve always wanted to be successful and I believe that’s the way God intended it to be,” Gaylon said. “I’ve never wanted to be a small player and I’ve always committed 110 percent, but I don’t take it for granted.” As Gaylon likes to say, “Life is a gift, but it doesn’t come wrapped with a bow.” Gaylon and Joey make the most out of every day-bringing their drive, determination and dedication to everything they do and every task they undertake. They also bring a good dose of love and laughter...and an occasional banana.
